@abkooks is out of this world! Meet NYC’s private chef & fabulous mixologist, Anne Brigitte Kassi

Updated: May 9, 2020

New York City is a big welcoming melting pot of diversity and culture, which is what gives this concrete jungle so much to offer.

Upon working in the hospitality industry since 2005, it gives me great joy to say that I have been truly fortunate to meet people from all over the world who have picked up and left their home to make their dreams come to life. For me, it takes a lot of courage to do that because I cannot relate to this. It’s safe to say, I never left this city but it’s women like Anne-Brigitte Kassi, owner of Abkooks, who totally inspire me to do so in leading others to be their own boss. As an entrepreneur in food and beverage, it’s important to be aware of people’s needs especially now. This private chef & mixologist makes life easy as pie, as she is a bonafide home-cook who also offers New Yorkers meal prep service.

Born and raised in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, Anne-Brigitte has been living in NYC for 4 years now working in hospitality for world renowned restaurants which opened many opportunities to meet and work with culinary artisans.

Anne-Brigitte, who gains her inpspiration from her roots, uses her memories and experiences since childhood to create a beautifully presented array of cocktails and dishes to complement eachother. As she grew up eating and experiencing all different kinds of cuisine, it has also sparked her interest in wanting to be a home chef. In addition, @abkooks is curated with lots of love as its crystal clear, Anne-Brigitte has a talent. Her dishes show her use of decadent, soulful ingredients that come together for people to be immersed in a celebration of flavors.

"For many, cooking is a survival but for me, it's therapy. This is how I unwind and reconnect with myself," said Anne-Brigitte.

When it comes to her business, she aims to provide an authentic, customized, goal setting experience for her clients.

Anne-Brigitte takes on clients who train for marathons, who want to lose weight, switch their diet and also for people like me; new mom’s who have depleted their nutrients but now have to switch to gluten free/raw vegan. Working closely with people who want something specific makes her a better chef and a happier one because she’s always up for the challenge. She uses different cooking techniques and styles as well as cross utilizing ingredients and making your whole grocery list of use.

Anne-Brigitte’s calling to be a personal chef was the need for intimacy and how it enables her to establish solid professional relationships by sharing her passion for culinary art.

She highlights how much she enjoys what she does because it's therapeutic. Because of the lockdown, Anne-Brigitte is given the opportunity to get better at her craft as well as collaborate with other like minded culinary artists such as herself. Although she is saddened by the effects that COVID 19 brought upon the Hospitality Industry’s business, Anne-Brigitte feels that things may not return back to normal again right away. “I just hope that when we’re finally able to be social again, restaurants will be prepared to repoen and handle the big flux of clientele expected. I don’t think things will go back to normal as the new normal will still need to be established because of all the changes that we’re undergoing, first as a society and further as individuals.”

“As we are all experiencing the “new normal” in many different ways, lets continue to create, inspire and spread joy!”said Anne Brigit.

I can’t think of anything better than this.

Tune in this Thursday 4/30/2020 live on Instagram 5PM @abkooks for a fun filled hour of cooking and drinks therapy. Hit follow!!! for more cocktail creations and recipes to come!
