Ultimate Sunday Self-Care with Irresistible Bouvery Chocolate Liqueur

Updated: May 9, 2020

There hasn’t been much excitement going on for me lately except for dedicating a day to me once a week. Lately, it’s been hard to tell what day it is but my body knows when it’s Sunday Funday.

With quarantine teaching me how to think outside of the box, that’s the one positive take away I am excited to share. Today it’s all about the magic of chocolate and treating yourself every Sunday!

Self Care Sunday’s are a perfect day to indulge in my favorite fixes. It’s a time for me to think about the small wins and express gratitude by honoring me!

It can be something as simple as taking a 10 minute walk outside, practicing yoga or if you’re like me, indulging in nature’s beautiful gift, chocolate. One thing I know is I love chocolate.

More and more as I am becoming a mindful culinary artisan specializing in the experience of food and drink, it’s so clear to me that everything I put in my body is of nutritional value and/or is made of top notch quality ingredients. If I am to indulge in anything, I will read the package and be a snob about it. I have no shame in taking an extra minute in the impulse purchase section full of these indulgences scoping out key words like “corn, fructose, artificial flavoring” etc. so I can gladly pass.

When it comes to chocolate in liquid form, I can’t stress enough how much I go gaga for Bouvery CV.

The obsession started when I came home from the hospital after giving birth to our son Finley but he didn’t come back with us because he had to stay in NICU. I had an intense week of laboring and wanting nothing more to be with our newborn. It was safe to say I needed the comforting so badly. The first thing I did when I got home feeling so very detached, worried, incomplete and just overwhelmed from the birth experience was pour myself Bouvery CV over ice. That simply was my chill pill! But more importantly it was just so comforting because it brought me back to life. For some people, I’m one of those where chocolate is the mother of all medicine. It’s a perfect source of antioxidants when you eat dark chocolate as well as reducing the risk of heart disease. Chocolate has a lot to do with altering mood for the better wouldn’t you agree?

Bouvery CV was created by CEO and founder Danny Bouvery, a choco-holic who brings the finest top shelf delectable, decadence of chocolate-y delight.

This vodka based chocolate liqueur is a staple in the culinary realm whether you are in the kitchen or behind the stick.

As a bartender I love to make chocolate martinis, Oaxacan Flips, and even manhattans with Bouvery CV. As a mom, I have resorted to low ABV drinks so just having the liqueur by itself and maybe prepared with the recipe I have shared below hits the spot. Whether it’s Self Care Sunday or practically any day sees fit for some chocolate there are more reasons why I can’t think of a better product. As a culinary artisan, I care about bean to bottle sustainability, and fair trade farming. The beans are sourced from Ecuador, Peru and DR also in the mix; West Africa, Ivory Coast and Ghana.

In the pastry kitchen Bouvery CV would make a breath taking chocolate mousse or kick it up a notch by adding it to your average cheesecake.

For now as my day is winding down and I’m getting ready to cheer the frontline workers at 7pm, I’ll just have my weekly indulgence served as my version of a chocolate soda pop. Try it out! It’s super easy.
